a little hymn

from 10.00

When making the preliminary sketches for this painting I was thinking a lot about trust, and about how when we trust in each other, or trust in ourselves we find peace, connection and open up so many new possible unexpected futures.

I have noticed that when we allow fear to take over our decisions, possibilities are cut off, the great infinite wonderfulness of the unknown is severed, in an effort to limit our future l to the known and the "safe".

In this painting I sought to create an allegory about trust. In a situation of apparent danger the wolf, girl, ass and forest find peace and communion with a shared meal.

The wolf and the ass both represent aspects of the girl and also serve to tell a story about trust in a situation of adversity.

Despite the presence of a big knife and a big predator they all come together in peace. This illustrates the abandonment of rational mind, because in my experience fear uses our rational mind as a tool to create rationalisations that feed negative narratives to justify decisions that kill off joy and potential.

This painting illustrates that there is an alternative, we can actually choose the crazy love option. Choose to love and to trust, regardless!

This is an art print available in small (A5), medium (A4) and large (A3). Each print is made from a high resolution image of the original painting.  This painting was made with acrylic paint on wooden board.  Each print is made by us with best quality Epson inks designed not to fade for over 100 years and Epson archival quality paper. I sign each print individually. The photo of me holding the print shows the large print. It is square on the page!
