When making the preliminary sketches for this painting I was thinking a lot about trust, and about how when we trust in each other, or trust in ourselves we find peace, connection and open up to new possible unexpected futures.

I have noticed that when we allow fear to take over our decisions, possibilities and relationships are cut off, the great infinite wonderfulness of the unknown is severed, because we feel safer when we limit our future to the known and the "safe". Unfortunately that can mean we keep repeating the same old self destructive patterns.

This painting is an allegory about trust. In a situation of apparent danger the wolf, girl, ass and forest find safety in the dark forest with a shared meal.

The wolf and the ass both represent aspects of the girl but also show us how we project aspects of our own character/self onto others. The tent represents safety and shelter, the forest and mountains represent the infinite divine cosmos. The sky is becoming grey as the sun goes down, but together this little crew are safe and warm.

Despite the presence of a big knife and a big predator, a human and wild animals; they all come together in peace. This illustrates the abandonment of rational mind, because in my experience fear uses our rational mind as a tool to create rationalisations that feed negative narratives to justify decisions that kill off joy and potential.

This painting illustrates that there is an alternative, we can actually choose the crazy love option. Choose to love and to trust regardless of our fears.

This listing is for the original painting, "a little hymn" which measures 80cm x 40 cm and is painted in acrylic paints on finger-jointed birch wood board. My acrylic and oil paintings are more expensive because they take so much longer to paint, the materials are much more expensive and they will last hopefully, much longer :D

Free international, insured postage is provided.

This original artwork is signed by Claire and comes with an artists certificate. Please note: reproduction rights remain solely with the artist.
