framed original painting - the night twins

Time for honesty, when I was a teenager I was ... like really dark. We didn't have emo back then, just gothic, and it meant you LOVED black, loved the night and all the creatures of the night. It meant you would be MORTIFIED to wear any other colour.

At 15 I longed to be nocturnal and cursed the sun.  I took much pride in maintaining a deathly pallor cursed all conventions which required me to attend school and participate in daylight activities. Smothered in sunscreen if forced to exit the shadows; I dyed my hair black, listened to Jesus and Mary Chain and scared my parents with endless, dull, desultory moods.

I still love the dark, the spooky and nothing is quite so lovely as serious twins in matching black dresses.

This painting is about my feelings about the destruction of wild spaces and the environmental and mass extinction crisis that we face as a planet.

This is the original painting in gouache on watercolor board. It is a larger work of approximately 60cm x 50cm and I have had it professionally framed (black on black) to keep it safe.

It took a crazy long time to paint because of all the teeny tiny brush strokes in white that have created the grass, the black backed floral dresses and deathly trees. Two Tasmanian devils cavort in the foreground and a stylish goth possum is in the tree.

Included in the sale price is insured local and international postage. Paintings are signed and come with an artists certificate. Please note, reproduction rights are not transferred with the purchase of original art, they remain solely with the artist.

Original art purchases are big ones and if you would like to layby using bank deposit, haggle, barter or buy in person please just send me an email :D

Thank you for your interest in my art!  Claire :D
